December 2008 They're here! Our new CD "The Good Deeds - Matthew 5:16" is now available on CDBaby. Matthew 5:16 includes some of Marilyn's original songs as well as some of "your favorites". This CD includes two "Good Deeds" songs, the old-time hymn "A Beautiful Life" and Marilyn's original song "Good Deeds Are Contagious". You will hear Gary singing lead on "I Can't Even Walk Without You Holding My Hand" and "In the Pines". "Can You Believe" is a new song from Marilyn that takes the listener from questioning God's love to the assurance of His everlasting love. Some of your favorites, "Leavin' Train", "Early" and "Jesus on the Mainline" are included. "Crackin' Peanuts and Drinkin' Box Wine" is a song based on a real experience that we had one winter while sharing our music in Arizona. A woman did come to our concert with her peanuts and a glass of wine. She experienced a transformation as she listened to us sing. A new song of Marilyn's that has become one of our favorites is "Someday". Here is a up-tempo song reminding us of the glory that awaits us in heaven. We hope you will visit
CDBaby,
listen to the song clips and purchase this new CD.
October 2008 For the past two months we have been playing our music at the local retirement homes and convalescent hospitals. This always brings us such joy to be with the ones we have known for a while. To see these friends on a regular basis is so gratifying. The big project in
October is getting our CDs promoted on the web. We chose CDBaby as
the means to get world-wide distribution of our CDs and also as MP3's.
Take a look at our site on CDBaby.
As we said in our most recent email to our friends; "help the economy and
purchase a CD on your credit card"! In the near future we will have
all three of our CDs on CDBaby.
August 2008 What an absolutely wonderful summer! We concluded our 9,000 mile trip with stops in northern California. In Hornbrook, California we provided special music for the Hornbrook Community Bible Church and in the evening a concert at the church. The following Monday we played at two of our favorite places in Yreka, California; The Adult Day Care Center and Meadowlark Retirement. We had a busy and productive summer: visiting our east coast family, re-uniting with our Maritime friends, completing our new CD at Gecko Music Studio, visiting with friends in the Mid-west, taking our first ever cruise (Alaska Inside Passage with our instruments to play Bluegrass Gospel music) visiting our West coast family and sharing our music along the way. Most important we were able to minister to many people through our music and testimony in both structured and informal gatherings from the Canadian Maritimes, across the country, aboard the cruise ship and on the West coast. We thank God for all the opportunities He gave us to share His love through our music and testimony. A big "thank you" to
all who continue to support us with prayer and hospitality.
June-July 2008 Every time we travel across the United States we marvel at the variety and beauty of our country. From the deserts of California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah to the magnificent Rocky Mountains of Colorado, across the extensive grass prairies of Nebraska and Iowa and farm lands of Illinois, Indiana and Ohio to the rolling mountains of Pennsylvania and the prolific forests that cover New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. What a magnificent land of contrasts! We are also awed by the bountiful productivity of our land. We are truly blessed and humbled to live in these United States. Arriving on the East coast we spent several long days at Gecko Music Studio recording our latest project. We are pleased with the progress and know this will be our best CD yet! Another bonus was being able to play special music for Grace Community Free Evangelical Church. A visit with our East coast family was another bonus and highlight.
It was then time to head into the Canadian Maritime provinces for three weeks of good Bluegrass music. Our first stop was the PEI Bluegrass Festival at Rollo Bay on Prince Edward Island. We met up with many old friends and were honored to be able to share our Bluegrass Gospel music during the Thursday evening program. Two other bonuses we got to play at The Andrews retirement home in Charlottetown, PEI. And on-stage at the Sun-N-Shade Campground. Thank you so much for letting us share our Gospel Bluegrass.
After a week of exploring PEI we went to the Old Mill Bluegrass Festival at Lutes Mountain in New Brunswick. Again, we met many friends we hadn't seen for four years. What a great re-union! We were also able to play our music as part of the Sunday morning program. We just love the hospitality of the people in the Maritimes. Thank you for letting us share our music with you. We traveled across the northern part of the United States to Seattle, Washington where we boarded the cruise ship for the Alaska Inside Passage voyage. Not being "cruise" people, the enticement was that two of our favorite Bluegrass bands were the hosts for this cruise. The Cherryholmes band and Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver provided the entertainment and workshops for all of us "Bluegrassers".
Another added bonus was we could take our instruments aboard and "jam" any place on the ship, which we did! So, not only was the scenery spectacular but we were with other Bluegrassers.
